Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Early Childhood Instructional Assistant to support teachers in providing a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. The ideal candidate will assist in classroom activities, promote social-emotional development, and ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the lead teacher in implementing lesson plans and activities that support early childhood development that adheres to the school's philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in the adopted charter;
  • Demonstrates the required expectations that are outlined in the Riverview Charter School Teacher Assistant Evaluation rubric;
  • Acts as an interventionist under the guidance of the teacher implementing Reading and Math lessons to small groups of students;;
  • Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and transitions;
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment;
  • Support children's social-emotional growth by modeling appropriate behaviors and conflict-resolution skills;
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment;
  • Assist with classroom management and behavior guidance under the teacher’s direction;
  • Help prepare instructional materials and set up activities;
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and families regarding student progress and needs;
  • Follow all school policies, safety protocols, and early childhood education guidelines;
  • Supervise students when circumstances require a brief absence by the Teacher;
  • Act as the Teacher when the Teacher is out;
  • Maintains appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance and appropriate use of planning and class time;
  • Respects the confidentiality of records and information regarding students, parents, and teacher in accordance with accepted professional ethics, and state and federal laws;
  • Demonstrates integrity, ethical behavior and professional conduct as stated in keeping with the most recent version of the Riverview Charter School Employee Handbook; and
  • Execute duty coverage, as assigned by school leadership

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or coursework in early childhood education preferred.
  • Previous experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a passion for working with young learners.
  • Ability to lift and interact with children at their level.
  • Must pass background checks as required by state and local regulations.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time, depending on school needs.
  • Typical school hours Monday-Friday with occasional meetings or training sessions after school
